Simple everyday look using Barry M dazzle dusts!!

My dear followers,

I wanted to do this look for a while now. I got my first dazzle dusts a year and a half ago and I fell in love with them instantly. They come in a range of different colors, the color payoff is great and they are very blendable. Also, they are affordable/drugstore products which is perfect. In each of the containers you get enough product to last a long looong time and yet it is not so much that you will never be able to get through all of it.

I own 7 of them and I love all the shades. I use them both dry and wet and they are long lasting especially over a primer(for this look I used the Too Faced shadow insurance).
So, here is the look I created for you today. I used 3 shades to achieve this look. I used number 38 "Beige" all over the lid, inner corner and all the way up to the brow bone with a 239 MAC brush. Then I applied number 51 "Mushroom" in the crease with a Sephora Crease brush. After that I applied bumber 98 "Petrol Black" in the outter corner with a 217 MAC brush. Last but not least I used my Urban Decay eye-shadow transforming potion(the "Fine Line Brush" side) with the same color (98)and lined my upper lashline.
Finally I applied some natural-looking false lashes and one coat of mascara.

Hope you like it!!!!!!!!!!!!
Have a great great weekend!!!

Carnival 2011 "Black Swan" look

A couple of weeks ago I watched the film "Black Swan" and I absolutely loved it.I think Natalie Portman is one of the best actresses of her generation and she was plain extraordinary in this film.
So, in the interest of starting a series of posts including ideas about the upcoming carnival I bring you this look.
There are tons of tutorials out there some of which are really good and give you a step-by-step explanation of how to achieve this look and others are less explanatory.
I didn't really intend for this to be a tutorial however I would be more than happy to create one for you guys if you ask me to. To be honest it is not that difficult to do. I mainly used black gel liner, an angled eye-liner brush, a white khol liner, a silver khol liner, a dark red lipgloss and black eye-shadow. So if you want to know exactly how I created it leave me a comment below and I will create a tutorial-type post.
Hope you liked this look...!I certainly had fun creating it! :)

Hope you're all well!

The Body Shop haul

Hey you guys,

Sorry I have been MIA for the past couple of days but I have been struggling with a cold for over 2 weeks. So today I went out with my mom to do some shopping and since there was a Body Shop near by I thought I should go in and see whether they had anything interesting. Fortunately they are having sales for a couple of days(starting at 20% if I am not mistaken)and so I got a few things.

I got four items and paid around 15 euros which is absolutely great.
Firstly, I got a Bath&Shower gel in "Rasberry Ripple".

Then, I got a travel sized bottle of the Rainforest Balance Shampoo for Oily hair. I thought I should try it since it says that it is free of Silicones, sulphates, colourants and parabens. I'll let you know if it works out for me.

I also got a Tea tree concealer in 01. This is my fourth tube of this concealer and I love it. I think it works great when you have a spot you'd like to cover. It is thick yet creamy and blendable. The only downside is that it only comes in 2 shades. However it works well with a number of skintones and it is undetectable under powder.

Last but not least I got a home fragrance oil in "Tobacco Flower". The Body Shop used to make a tobacco flower perfume a number of years ago which I was a huge fan of. So I got this home frangrance to use with my oil burner.

That is all guys.
Hope you liked my mini haul.

Hair DIY for brunettes...!

Good afternoon my lovely followers.
I would like to begin this post by saying welcome to my new followers and a big thank you to my older followers. It gives me great joy when you guys read my posts and of course when you find them interesting and helpful.
*****************************************************************************
Now on to today's post...!I stopped dying my hair 2 and a half years ago because they started falling out. I am not sure whether it was the dying or my hormones that caused it to start falling however I thought it was very sensible of me to stop dying it. I never went overboard with hair color and after the first 2 years of dying my hair I switched to more natural/herb based dyes such as Korres hair dyes.
However in the interest of keeping my hair I decided to stop altogether and seek alternative methods of enhancing my natural hair color.
So, a couple of months ago my mom gave me a great idea that I tried and altered and I will now share with you.

Firstly, you will need some chestnuts(I used 12 chestnuts although it really doesn't matter). Boil them in a saucepan for about 8-10 minutes(I boiled them in 1 ltr of water). Once the chestnuts are ready remove them with a spoon from the pan(fyi you can eat the boiled chestnuts, they are quite yummy). Now,what you are left with is the water in which you boiled the chestnuts which is now a brownish color. You need to let that coold down before you do anything else. After the water reaches room temperature put it in the fridge for a little while(until cool).
Other things you are going to need:

1.The water in which you boiled the chestnuts in a disposable bowl.
2.A disposable shower cap
3.Some hair clips
4.A dye Brush(optional)

Make sure you do this over your bathroom or kitchen sink and that you wear an old t-shirt.

Start by sectioning your hair...

Dip each section into the bowl, then twist the hair and pin in on your head.I do this to keep these sections out of the way while I work on the rest of my hair.

After doing this on all of your hair make sure that all of your hair is wet including the roots. I used the dye brush and the remaining water to go over my roots. After that put on your shower cap and wait for 30 minutes.

Finally, remove the shower cap and wash and dry/style your hair as you normally would.

Now, here are two photos of my hair color before and after I used this technique(both taken under natural daylight). You will notice the slightly enhanced color and the shine.

Before

After

I hope this helped! It is an all natural way to enhance your hair color and it costs close to nothing.
Please note that the outcome will depend on your how dark your natural hair is. I think it works best on medium color brown hair.

AVON "Golden Twilight" nailpolish!

About 2 months ago I place my first AVON order so I could support a girl I know who recently became an AVON sales person/representative. I didn't buy much at all but I did get a nailpolish that looked good on the leaflet I was given. This is the AVON nailwear pro nailpolish in "Golden Twilight".
+
It is a nice rich color.
I don't own anything that looks exactly like it.
It is quite festive
It has a nice enough formula
The price is good
-
It can be a little streaky.
It chips pretty easily.
It is a little hard to remove because of the glitter.
Here are the swatches.

Under natural light.

Under artificial light.

Hope you liked this post.

mwah...!

False eyelashes? Fear not....;)

Goodmorning you guys...!!!
How are you today? I woke up a little later than I intended to but it is still the Holiday Season and I think I deserve a little more sleep.

So what I have for you today is a post on false eyelashes and how to apply them.
Lots of bloggers and youtubers have talked about this and I thought I should give my input on this subject, as well.
First and foremost let me start by saying that I am not a huge fan of false eyelashes and especially really dramatic ones. I do like seeing them on other people but I wouldn't use them myself unless they were part of a costume or a tutorial for an eye-look.
The reason I avoid using false eyelashes is that I am afraid of having to re-apply lash adhesive in order to keep them in place. Having said that I love the look of natural looking false lashes with a minimal eye make-up for a night out so I thought I would quit being a falsies noob and give it a go.
What you are going to need is:
A pair of false eyelashes(These are Ardell 105 lashes however I trimmed them because they were too dramatic for me so please do have in mind they look much much fuller if you don't trim them).

Eyelash adhesive(I used eyelure Lashfix Strip Lash Adhesive because I thought the DUO lash glue was a little overpriced)

The first step is to apply glue on the band of the lash.I used the plastic wand that comes with the Lash adhesive to do that.

Then I waited 10 seconds before applying the falsies because you need to allow the glue to get a little tacky before application.
I ,then, held the the two ends of the lashes(the hair and not the band), and applied it right on top of my natural lashes. You need to work with the lashes quickly and move the band around in order to achieve the perfect shape and I suggest you do that with the round end of your tweezers. Then press the band gently on your lid (veeeeery gently) and let the glue dry. It should look more or less like this...

In order to "cover your tracks" apply eyeliner on your top lashline. This will make your falsies look seemless and more natural.

Unfortunately I could not take pictures of the entire process because I needed both my hands to apply the lashes. However I will make sure I do an additional blog post where I apply falsies on someone else so you can see the process step by step. Let me know if this is something you are interested in and I will make it happen.
Now I am off to the supermarket to pick up some stuff!!!
Hope you are having a great day!

Happy New Year and 5 Beauty Resolutions for 2010

HAPPY 2011 EVERYONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I wish you all the best for 2011!May all of your wishes come true.
I hope you guys had a wonderful New Year's Eve and that you spent it with the people you love the most. I had a great time with my friends but unfortunately it was impossible to combine everyone's schedule. Nonetheless it was a wonderful start to the new year.

Now I'd like to share with you my beauty resolutions for 2011!

1. Make sure I have removed all my make-up and washed my face thoroughly before I go to bed at night.
I have been pretty good at doing this but sometimes I get a little lazy and end up forgetting to moisturise or use both a soap and a toner every night.

2. STOP picking my blemishes!
Ok, so I normally don't do this but I am human after all and sometimes I cave...!This year I will stick to cleansing my skin and treat my blemishes with tea tree oil.

3. STOP wearing make-up for the sake of wearing it.
Sometimes I put on make-up for the sake of putting it on. This has to stop...! Sometimes concealer might be all you need(that is if you have huge dark purple/green/blue circles like I do).

4. Use up products before purchasing more products.
I am not a collector but I do have some limited edition products that I'd like to keep around for longer. However there are some products I love using which I ,then, tend to switch up in order not to use them up. I think this is something I need to change this year.More finished products means more chances of discovering new and exciting products to use!

5. Try different things in order to perfect my techniques.
Find friends who are willing to model some looks for me. It is very different doing your own make-up and doing someone else's. I think I need to experiment more and learn new things in order to become a better blogger.

So, these are my 2011 beauty resolutions...!I hope you liked this post! Also, let me know what your 2011 beauty resolutions are because I would love to know!
